Ocean's Zero description

This smartphone application is produced by Surfrider Foundation Europe, an environmental NGO that has been working for more than 25 years for the defense of the oceans. She is a referent on the problem of waste and on the sensitization of the general public via in particular its program Initiatives Oceans.

The project

Ocean's Zero is your personal assistant, available at any time on your smartphone, to accompany you in the discovery of a zero waste lifestyle. Zero waste is a way of life that aims to generate less waste and limit its impact on the environment.

Reduce waste = Save the oceans

Every year, nearly 9 million tonnes of waste ends up in the oceans. Contrary to popular belief, this waste does not come from the sea but comes from 80% of the continent. Whether discarded or poorly recycled, a large amount of waste will end up in the oceans and have a disastrous ecological impact. The only way to stop this pollution is to significantly reduce our waste production.

100% of the waste is of human origin. The good news is that we can all act on our scale. Thanks to the 25 simple and concrete actions proposed by the Ocean's Zero application, you learn, at your own pace, how to reduce your waste production in your everyday life. And reducing waste is helping to preserve the oceans.
