Section 304 (b) of Indian Penal Code
Section 304 (b) of Indian Penal Code is applicable for punishment in cases of dowry death. Dowry murder means death due to woman's burning or any physical injury or death due to any suspected cause within seven years of marriage. Dowry death sentence is imprisonment for seven years. The accused of this crime does not get bail.

Section 302 of Indian Penal Code
Section 302 of the Code provides for punishment in case of dowry death. Under this, if a woman guilty of dowry death is proven guilty in the court, she can be imprisoned or hanged.

Section 306 of Indian Penal Code
If a woman with in-laws makes a victim of a mental or emotional violence for dowry and for this reason she commits suicide, then she is punished under section 306 of Indian Penal Code. If convicted, the accused can be fined for a crime of forcing the woman to commit suicide and a sentence of up to 10 years can be pronounced.

Section 498-A of Indian Penal Code
For the treatment of cruelty and violence against women in the greed of the dowry by husbands or relatives, there is a provision for harsh punishment under Section-498A of the Code. Here are the reasons for cruelty - forcing women to commit suicide, creating a threat to their life and torture and violence for dowry.
