KONSILI VATIKAN II description

Konsili Ekumenis Vatikan Kedua atau Vatikan II (1962-1965), adalah sebuah Konsili Ekumenis ke-21 dari Gereja Katolik Roma yang dibuka oleh Paus Yohanes XXIII pada 11 Oktober 1962 dan ditutup oleh Paus Paulus VI pada 8 Desember 1965. Pembukaan Konsili ini dihadiri oleh hingga 2540 orang uskup Gereja Katolik Roma sedunia (atau juga disebut para Bapa Konsili), 29 pengamat dari 17 Gereja lain, dan para undangan yang bukan Katolik.
Selama masa Konsili ini, diadakan empat periode sidang di mana jumlah Uskup yang hadir lebih banyak dan berasal dari lebih banyak negara daripada konsili-konsili sebelumnya. Jumlah dokumen yang dihasilkannya pun lebih banyak dan dampak pengaruhnya atas kehidupan Gereja Katolik lebih besar dari peristiwa manapun sesudah zaman reformasi pada abad XVI. Second Vatican Council, or Vatican II (1962-1965), is a 21st ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic Church which was opened by Paus Yohanes XXIII on October 11, 1962 and closed by Pope Paul VI on December 8, 1965. The opening of the Council was attended by until 2540 the bishop of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church (or also called the fathers), 29 observers from 17 other church, and the invitation is not a Catholic.
During the period of this Council, held four trial periods in which the number of Bishops who attended more and came from more countries than any previous council. The number of documents it produces even more and the impact of his influence over the life of the Catholic Church is bigger than any event since the Reformation in the sixteenth century.
