A simple and efficient forest growth simulation model for forest professionals

SiWaWa description

SiWaWa 2.0 is a simple and effective forest growth simulation model intended for forest professionals. The app allows in the forest and with a few clicks to quantify the current state of a forest stand, in a specific and detailed way, and to simulate its future development without or with interventions.
Few data are needed to use SiWaWa: the basal area per hectare (G), the number of stems per hectare (N), as well as the site index (SI) or the dominant height (h_dom). G, N and h_dom can be measured easily and rapidly in the forest, thanks to the MOTI app (also available on Google Play Store).
SiWaWa 2.0 provides information on volume growth or mortality, and on the distribution of stems by diameter classes.
SiWaWa 2.0 provides also essential information on the stand density (G) and its evolution over time, and puts them into perspective with maximum density (G_max) and recommended density (G_rec) benchmarks. It thus offers a relevant basis for decision-making, in helping define appropriate moments for thinning the stand and determine the intensity of successive thinnings. The user can define different variants of interventions and compare them with each other. Results can be saved and exported for further analysis.
Moreover, SiWaWa 2.0 provides information on diameter and height growth, which is useful for representing the evolution of trees.
