Psalter description

Psalter - a book consisting of 20 kathisma or 151 psalms setting forth pious outpouring of enthusiastic believer's heart at different trials of life, also includes a prayer, read after each kathisma.

The exceptional beauty of the psalms in the fact that they - the prayer of penitent sinners, who cry out to the Lord in the midst of numerous trials and tribulations, with faith, hope and love.

The urgency of the Psalms is explained by the fact that they contain prophetic insight. Glorifying the past or present, they simultaneously proclaim the future: the Messiah, the Church, the Sacraments. All of this has come true today. All this - the greatest treasure of the people of God, ie Christians... And so the Church of Christ continues to sing psalms. But not all the prophecies have already been fulfilled. We expect the new coming of the Messiah at the end of the world. Jerusalem for us - not only the Church, but also the heavenly Jerusalem - the kingdom of God, our heavenly homeland. Therefore, the thrill of joyful expectation, which takes place in the Psalms, and transferred to our hearts. And we can repeat with the psalmist David, at the same time and with the Seer John the Theologian: Let us sing to the Lord a new song, for he has worked wonders (Ps 97, 1.) Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Rev. 22.20).
