Oviya was born 29 April 1991 Age 26 Years in Thrissur, Kerala, India. Oviya is an Indian Film Actress and Former Model. she mainly appears in Tamil film Industry. Oviya was began her film acting career in 2007 with a Malayalam movie Kangaroo. in 2010 she acted a Tamil Movie Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress and 2012 she received Edison Award for Female Rising Star Award.

Oviya started her career as an actress by portraying supporting roles in Malayalam films, notably working in Kangaroo 2007 and Puthiya Mukham 2009 starring Prithviraj and as one of the lead characters in the college drama Apoorva 2008. Oviya then worked towards completing a BA in Functional English at Vimala College in Thrissur, before director Sargunam approached her for Kalavani (2010). Sarkunam cast her in the leading female role after seeing a picture of her online and was convinced that he had found the correct actress to portray the role despite reservations from the producer.

She was featured opposite Vimal, and the film subsequently gained positive reviews and became a sleeper hit at the box office. Critics praised Oviya’s performance of a village-based schoolgirl, with a critic from the Hindustan Times stating “Oviya’s marvellous expressions convey her gratitude, and she uses her eyes to say it all”. Similarly, a reviewer from The Hindu stated “Oviya looks cute and emotes well, which is a rarity these days”.


Oviya made her Kollywood debut with the movie Kangaroo which released in 2007. Her talent went unnoticed for a couple of years until 2010. Her shot to limelight came from the 2010 blockbuster hit Kalavani which was a comedy movie. Kalavani was a hit among the audience and received positive reviews from critics as well. In the coming year after the release of Kalavani, she signed six movies which is a remarkable feat. She is mainly known for her work in the Tamil film industry.

Due to the huge success of Kalavani, she was chosen to reprise her role in the film for the Kanna and Telugu versions of the remake of Kalavani. Till date, she has acted in 21 movies and is filming for five more movies which will be released in the coming years. Oviya’s movies are fun to watch and she is an actor who can fit into any kind of role easily.

Oviya Helen is one of the most popular contestants of the TV series Bigg Boss Tamil. Since the show has aired, the show has stirred a lot of controversies and Oviya has made sure that she makes headlines till she is a part of the show.
