Luthier Lab description
Luthier Lab is a suite of (free) sophisticated software tools for luthiers. The tools can be used to aid in the designing and building of stringed instruments.

Design ToolsShape • Design shape of a guitar in terms of lines and arcs
Arches • Specify the arching for arch top guitars
• Supports exporting to CAD tool (STL format)
• Allows different arches for top and back
Bracing Patterns • Provides a library of common bracing patterns
• Supports creation of custom bracing patterns
• Allows different bracing patterns for top and back
Fretboard • Calculates the fret positions and saddle compensation
• Allows dual scale
Analysis ToolsTone Generator • Supports various wave forms
• Can generate constant tone or sweep tone
Spectrum Analyzer • Captures a sample of the sound from your instrument
• Graphs the frequency spectrum of that sound sample
• The spectrum graph can be annotated to mark peak frequencies
• Each sample is stored for later reference
Chladni Patterns • Used in conjunction with the Tone Generator
• Stores photos of your Chladni patterns
• Photos are stored in albums labeled with the tone generator frequency
• Can create multiple albums associated with different phases of your analysis process
Design & Project LibrariesDesign - The form of an instrument, for example OM or Drednaught
• Provides a library of common designs
• Supports creation of custom designs
• The Design Library manages multiple designs
• Designs can be shared with other Luthier Lab users via import/export
Project - The data for a single instrument (a design, collected analysis data, notes)
• The Project Library manages multiple projects
• Projects can be shared with other Luthier Lab users via import/export
