Listen & Memorize GMAT GRE SAT description

Vocabulary practice is critical for success on the GRE, GMAT, SAT and ACT. By listening to a list of words (and definitions) repeatedly, you can turn your work-outs, chores, and other recreational activities into a “study session” with the help of your headphones.

All you have to do is play the file, listen to the list of words, and repeat the process over and over again until you memorize each word. Research has shown that memories are formed by repeated exposure to the same information.

No fancy gimmicks, just raw memorization. This FREE app provides you with a straight forward, simple, efficient and portable way to prepare for the verbal section of these exams. It includes a list of 25 words and definitions that can appear on the verbal section of these exams.

Why this approach? While studying for the GRE verbal exam, I searched for an audio based flashcard. I could not find one. The idea was that if I could listen to the definition of a list of words repeatedly, I would be able to memorize those words. As a result, I created one for myself by doing the following:

1. I broke up 500 words into manageable groups. Each audio file group contained 25 different words.

2. I then used a voice recorder to create multiple audio files where I mentioned each word, followed by its respective meaning.

3. Finally, I listened to each file repeatedly until I memorized the definition of each word in the audio file.

4. I then shared these audio files with several friends and I got a lot of positive reviews. In particular, they liked the simplicity and directness of my approach.

After sharing my audio files with multiple students around the world and receiving wonderful feedback, I decided to create an updated version using a software based text to speech engine. The current app has one group of 25 words.

IF YOU FIND THIS APP USEFUL, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND I CAN EXPAND ON IT.

IF YOU WANT MORE WORDS, I WILL ADD MORE WORDS! THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT. JUST LET ME KNOW...

Over the next few weeks, I will be adding more 25 word groups to this app based on your request. Please let me know if you want more words (using the reviews) and I would go ahead and release an update with more groups.

I hope you enjoy using the app :-).
