The Dutch Oven Calculator calculates the number of charcoal briquettes needed to cook a given recipe in a camping Dutch Oven. It does not attempt to compensate for ambient temperature, altitude, wind or other variables. These are left to the cooking skill of the chef. Trust your gut and check the food often if the recipe allows it.
