Belarus partisan description

The site "Belarus partisan " has been created in November, 2005.
The editorial team of the Internet site “Belarus partisan” writes about basic events of political, economic and public life in Belarus, and also publishes analytical materials and comments from well-known politicians and experts. Besides, journalists prepare investigation reports, which is practically impossible to do through official Belarus mass-media.
Important directions of work are the monitoring of infringements of human rights, as well as the publication of the list of officials and special services’ workers who break the civil rights and freedom of Belarusian citizens.
“Belarus partisan” is actively involved in cooperation with readers and visitors of the site, who are asked to send information about events in their city or area. After being checked, those reports are published on the website. The editorial team does its best to answer all letters from people who gather and contribute information about the situation in Belarus.
The site is quickly developing. Since December 2005 it became an appreciable information resource. According to Belarus Internet-portal Akavita, www.belaruspartizan.org gets over 5 thousands visitors a day and is among the 10 most visited Belarus websites, out of around 9,000 registered ones in 2008.
After president elections of December 2010 in Belarus every months more then 400 000 unique visitors come to site. We have about 70000 visitors a day and the number of readers are constantly growing.
The site is focused on Belarusians living in Belarus and in neighbouring countries, aged 25 to 40, politically active, but not necessarily member of a party. To efficiently reach this audience, the language used is Russian. But we made a version in Belarus language in 2011.
12 persons work on the website, 8 of them work daily, 4 persons are volunteers . The coordinator of the project - journalist Paul Sheremet is the winner of the premium of Committee of Protection of Journalists (CPJ). Another coordinator of the project works in Minsk. Besides, experts, political scientists and economists periodically cooperate with “Belarus partisan”.
The expanded website will have 4 main sections: politics, economy, society and sports.
In the end of 2010 we made the new section “Blogs”. In such section, analysts, journalists, politicians and public figures keep their diaries and leave comments.
In the end of April of 2011 we create the Belarusian version of site.
In the end of March of 2012 we moved to the new, modern website platform. We created a new design. Now our website is colored and it has new useful opportunities.
