Bible čeština je v současné době rozdělen do dvou hlavních skupin: knih Starého a Nového zákona.Starý zákon představuje dějiny světa od jeho vzniku na události po návratu Židů z babylonského exilu ve čtvrtém století před naším letopočtem
Nový zákon vypráví příběh Ježíše Krista a kázání jeho učení během jeho života a po jeho smrti a vzkříšení, v prvním století našeho letopočtu (viz: Život Krista)
Bible nebyla rozdělena do kapitol podle 1227 našeho letopočtu, kdy kardinál Langton Sthepen je vytvořil, a neměla verše být rozdělen tak, v roce 1551 Robert Stephanus2.
