Asia cup 2022 Live Match description

The Asia Cup 2022 schedule is officially yet to be released but the date of commencement and the final date of the tournament have been announced. Asia Cup 2022 will begin on August 27 this year and the final of the tournament will be played on September 11.

The tournament will take place in the T20 format as it will serve as a massive warm-up opportunity for the 6 participating Asia teams in the preparation for the T20 World Cup which is all set to take place later this year in Australia.

Asia Cup 2022 dates have been revealed. The venue has also been shifted from Sri Lanka to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) coming up with the announcement of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) hosting the tournament in the United Arab Emirates.

A total of 6 teams will be participating in this year’s Asia Cup which include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are the 5 confirmed teams so far. UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong will be playing a Qualifier for the 6th spot in Asia Cup 2022.

The teams are yet to be divided into groups for Asia Cup 2022. In the last edition too, there were six teams and they were divided into two groups of three teams each. Group A consisted of India, Pakistan, and Hong Kong while Group B had Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

As far as the format is concerned, each team played the other in the same group once. The top two teams from each group then qualified to qualify for the second stage, called the Super Four. The four teams in that stage played each other once before the top two teams qualified for the final. With six teams participating in the upcoming edition too, one can expect a similar format.
