في رصده لتاريخ موسيقى الراي وأبرز أعلامها من المغنيات والمغنين في الجزائر التاريخ السياسي والاجتماعي لبلاده قبل الاستقلال عن فرنسا وبعده إضافة إلى مواقف قوى اجتماعية اتهمت بعض رموز هذا الفن بالانحلال الأخلاقي، وتسبب ذلك في قتل أحدهم خلال سنوات الدم في التسعينات
إن موسيقى الراي هي الطابع الموسيقي الجزائري والعربي الوحيد الذي استطاع في وقت قياسي بلوغ الذروة العالمية حتى إن القاموس اللغوي الفرنسي لاروس

ويقع الكتاب في 168 صفحة متوسطة القطع وصدر في الجزائر عن جمعية البيت للثقافية والفنون ضمن سلسلة السير ويقول أبو بكر زمال مصمم الكتاب إنه الأول من نوعه الذي يتطرق إلى ظاهرة أغنية الراي
