The novel describes the invading aliens (Martians) on Earth. The plot of the novel was prompted by the brother of the writer - and it is dedicated to "War of the Worlds."
The narrative is first person unnamed protagonist, a resident of Victorian England in the beginning of XX-th century. Events unfolding in and around London: in Surrey towns Horseli, Woking. It all starts to increase public interest in Mars. A few years before the event, astronomers have registered on the surface of Mars, a strong flash. The protagonist visits an observatory and observing celestial bodies approaching from Mars.
