Em meados de 1951, os irmãos Romeu e Arnaldo Mantovani, juntamente com Jessyr Bianco, começaram a cogitar a ideia de um jornal independente. Naquele tempo, Romeu Mantovani, além de trabalhar na
Prefeitura de Americana, trabalhava também como contador para Jayme Antas, em sua fábrica têxtil. Jayme era filho do vereador Sebastião Antas de Abreu, um dos maiores responsáveis pela unificação
política da cidade de Americana. Fez parte do primeiro mandato da Câmara Municipal.
Jaime e Sebastião acreditavam na possibilidade de um jornal sem vínculos com a política e, com o faturamento da empresa têxtil, forneceram as verbas necessárias para a compra das primeiras máquinas
que seriam utilizadas para a impressão do jornal que se chamaria O LIBERAL.

In mid-1951, the Romeo and Arnaldo Mantovani brothers, along with Jessyr Bianco, began to entertain the idea of an independent newspaper. At that time, Romeo Mantovani, besides working in the City
of American, also worked as an accountant for Jayme Antas, in his textile mill. Jayme was the son of Councilman Sebastian Antas de Abreu, one of the most responsible for the political unification of
the city of Americana. He was part of the first term of the Municipality.
Jaime and Sebastian believed in the possibility of a newspaper with no ties to politics and, with revenues from the textile company, provided the necessary funds for the purchase of the first
machines that would be used for the printing of the newspaper to be called LIBERAL.
