Save the Children has been working in Thailand since 1984. Over the past 30 years, we have worked to deliver lasting changes for children in Thailand and across the Mekong delta. Save the Children supports the development of policies that help fulfil children’s rights as laid out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, particularly for migrant, refugee and ethnic minority children. Save the Children is also one of the leading responders in humanitarian crises, supporting children and their families who are caught up in disasters and conflict, working towards lasting peace and resilience in disaster-prone areas.

‘Eat Play Love Read’ ​ were designed to pilot innovative approaches to improving development trajectories for the most vulnerable children aged 0 to 6 by strengthening nurturing caregiving and home learning. It will tackle the issues of physical and humiliating punishment (PHP) and lack of male caregiver participation (MCP) in early caregiving.

Mula Baca اج مولا translates as (‘start reading’), is an interactive Thai-Melayu dual-language reading application designed to address the need for increase male participation in early caregiving. ​ ​ In response to local demand, Save the Children Thailand will export online and animate existing dual-language books to create an interactive reading application and a proud community of deep south fathers.

We will develop an application comprising of:​
Digital Library: Working with Blockchain Labs will adapt these existing our dual-language books to smartphone/tablet format. The app will record reading time and engagement frequency. ​ ​
Games: The app will host games linked to Parent Education Session / Ready to Learn sessions content such as matching shapes and colors or matching book’s words in Melayu and Thai. This will increase interaction from users and learning. ​ ​
An Online Community/Forum: targeting fathers to promote discussions around positive parenting among male caregiver peers - Key stakeholders will help drive fathers’ engagement within the app’s e-discussion. The app will also provide access to comments or “top tips” from other fathers.
