Origin

The colloquial phrase in Spanish "Me gusta" was adopted for the first time in a rage comic drawing by illustrator Matt Oswald, who uploaded his artwork to 4chan and Reddit on March 18, 2010. The drawing was also loaded on his Tumblr personal blog and DeviantART account. Oswald finally revealed himself as the creator of the "Like" face on a Reddit thread, as well as a Ask Me Anything thread on March 8, 2011.

In December 2010, the single-topic blog Like Face was launched to curate comics. As of May 2012, the series rated at the level "Yeah" on MemeGenerator and thousands of "Like" anger comics can be found on Tumblr, Memebase and on Reddit's popular F7U12 subreddit.
