MapTales is a location-based storytelling platform where people can share their stories in a form of audio, image/photo and text.

Storytelling can be defined as a means of sharing and interpreting experiences. Great stories have been passed through generation by different type of methods. This includes oral (spoken word), visual (cave paintings, pictographic symbols etc), written (novels, newspapers, etc) and lastly by way of digital storytelling (film, radio, tv, etc).

Digital storytelling itself has transformed through a lot of experiments and some have shown its effectiveness by the growth of podcast platform that proves to match our generation needs. However, it is noticed that podcast can only rely on one type of medium, which is an audio, as its tool to deliver stories, while there are other tools that can stimulate a better storytelling experience.

MapTales sees opportunities for people to deliver stories with new experience by combining different types of medium (audio, text and image) into one part of storytelling method. Each story/tale is entailed with a map to pinpoint, with a main attention to make each story believable to the audience/users.

MapTales adalah platform storytelling/penceritaan berbasis lokasi, dimana orang dapat berbagi cerita mereka dalam bentuk audio, gambar / foto dan teks.

Kisah-kisah hebat telah diturunkan dari generasi ke generasi dengan berbagai jenis metode. Ini termasuk lisan (kata yang diucapkan), visual (lukisan gua, simbol piktografik, dll), tertulis (novel, koran, dll) dan terakhir dengan cara bercerita digital (film, radio, tv, dll).

Penceritaan digital sendiri telah bertransformasi melalui banyak eksperimen dan beberapa telah menunjukkan keefektifannya dengan pertumbuhan platform podcast yang terbukti sesuai dengan kebutuhan generasi kita. Namun, perlu diperhatikan bahwa podcast hanya dapat mengandalkan satu jenis media, yaitu audio, sebagai alat penyampaian cerita, sedangkan ada alat lain yang dapat merangsang pengalaman penceritaan yang lebih baik.

MapTales melihat peluang bagi orang untuk menyampaikan cerita dengan pengalaman baru dengan menggabungkan berbagai jenis media (audio, teks, dan gambar) ke dalam satu bagian metode bercerita. Setiap cerita dilengkapi dengan peta untuk ditunjukkan, dengan perhatian utama untuk membuat setiap cerita dapat dipercaya oleh pengguna.
