Anyone parenting a child in this digital age will agree that the most effective way to discipline them is by restricting access to mobile devices. Short of wrestling these devices away and locking them up, use Lockout. The Lockout app allows users to set timers that restrict use of individual or multiple apps with the touch of a button.

After creating an account within the Lockout app, parents are able to search for and connect to multiple devices. Once a device has been added and Lockout access is turned on, administrators are able to set restrictions on certain apps by locking them out completely or setting a timer. Lockouts can even be set to repeat; enable a Monday through Friday lockout during school hours, limit social media use for dinner time, or set a Sunday morning timer to restrict access during church. When a serious grounding is in effect, enable a 24/7 lock out on all social media and texting apps.

While parents aren’t always impervious to their children’s pleas, Lockout is. When non-stop begging and apologizing wears you down, pre-set lockouts remain in effect until the timers run out, even if the device is returned. However, remote access means that restrictions can be set even if the device in question is not in your possession. If an attempt is made to access an app that has been locked out, a notification of restricted access, the username of the person who initiate the lockout, as well as a countdown until the app is available will display.
