The ANCC Faith Community Nursing board certification through portfolio assessment provides a valid and reliable assessment of the entry-level clinical knowledge and skills of registered nurses in the faith community nursing specialty after initial RN licensure. Once you complete eligibility requirements and successfully pass the portfolio review process, you are awarded the credential: Registered Nurse-Board Certified (RN-BC). This credential is valid for 5 years. You can continue to use this credential by maintaining your license to practice and meeting the renewal requirements in place at the time of your certification renewal.

Certification through portfolio is a new assessment methodology to achieve ANCC board certification. No exam is required. Eligible applicants submit an online portfolio of evidence to document their specialized knowledge, skills, understanding, and application of professional nursing practice and theory. Portfolios must articulate performance in four domains of practice: Professional Development, Professional and Ethical Nursing Practice, Teamwork and Collaboration, and Quality and Safety, as described in the Portfolio Content Outline and Eligibility Criteria for this specialty certification.

Faith Community Nursing Board Certification applications are peer-reviewed by Board Certified Faith Community Nurses and evaluated for adherence to criteria elements described in the specialty Portfolio Content Outline and Eligibility Criteria.
